How to Write Arabic in Blender Correctly

Despite the massive development Blender has witnessed in recent years, and the addition of many features and tools that made it a strong competitor to paid software, there is still a problem that bothers many Arab users to this day: its lack of proper support for typing in Arabic.

Frankly, I faced this problem several times while working on different projects, especially when I needed to add Arabic texts or titles inside the scene. Every time, I had to search for a solution or a workaround for this issue.

Fortunately, there are some simple solutions that allow us to type in Arabic inside Blender until full official support is provided by the development team in the future.

In this article, I will share with you the method I personally use to type in Arabic inside Blender, step by step.

Downloading and Installing the Write Arabic Text Add-on

As mentioned earlier, Blender does not support typing in Arabic correctly by default, so we will use a free add-on called Write Arabic Text  developed by the community to solve this problem.

One of the things I like about Blender is the huge community of developers and users who create add-ons to solve many problems or add new features not present in the software by default, and the Write Arabic Text add-on is one of them.

After downloading the add-on, we open Blender and go to:

Edit then Preferences then Add-ons

Then we click on the small arrow at the top of the window and choose Install from Disk, then we select the add-on file we downloaded.

Installing the add-on in Blender

After the installation is complete, we make sure to enable the add-on by checking the box next to its name.

Now Blender is ready to handle Arabic texts much better, and we can move on to how to use it inside the project.

How to Write in Arabic Inside Blender

First, we add a Text object to the scene in the usual way.

Once the add-on is installed, press Ctrl + F1 to activate it.

Adding a Text element

The add-on doesn't automatically create a new text; rather, it relies on the text object we previously added. All we have to do is enter the Edit Mode of the text, then type the Arabic text.

The add-on will write the Arabic text correctly and properly, so it appears inside the scene as if it were natively supported by Blender.

The Arabic typing problem in Blender has been solved

With this, we have successfully added Arabic text to our project, and we can then modify the size, font, color, and the rest of the settings in the usual way inside Blender.

 Important Notes

During my use of this method, I haven't encountered any significant problems, but it's worth noting that some fonts do not fully support the Arabic language. Therefore, if the letters appear incorrectly, try using another font that supports Arabic.

This method is also very suitable for titles and texts we need inside the scene, and it has saved me a lot of time compared to other solutions I used previously.

 Conclusion

Until official support for the Arabic language is added inside Blender, the Write Arabic Text add-on remains one of the simplest solutions I have personally tried, especially if you need to quickly write Arabic titles or texts in your projects without resorting to external software or complex workarounds.
